Note: If you don't have falernum, you
"can" substitute grenadine, although it

Between The Sheets

Black Russian  
2 ounces vodka

Half-fill a pint glass with amber beer,
then carefully add the stout so that it

Bloody Mary  
1 1/2 ounces vodka

7 drops Worcestershire sauce
3 drops Tabasco sauce
1 pinch freshly ground pepper
1 pinch of celery salt

Bobbo's Bride  
1 ounce gin

Captain's Blood  
1 1/2 ounces dark rum
1/4 ounce lime juice

Casino  
2 ounces gin
1/8 ounce lemon juice

Champagne Cocktail  
6 ounces chilled champagne
1 cube sugar
Angostura bitters

Soak sugar cube with Angostura
bitters. Place the cube in the bottom of
a champagne flute. Fill with
champagne. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Chrysanthemum Cocktail  
1 1/2 ounce dry vermouth
3/4 ounce Benedictine
3 dashes pastis (Pernod, or other
absinthe substitute)

Stir with ice. Strain into a cocktail
glass. Garnish with a twist of orange.
Coffee Cocktail  
1 1/2 ounces port
1 1/2 ounces brandy
1 tsp simple syrup
1 whole egg
dash of bitters

Shake hard with ice. Strain into a wine
glass. Garnish with grated nutmeg.  
If the thought of using raw egg in your
cocktails gives you some concern, you
can instead use one of the liquid egg
substitutes, which are essentially
pasturized egg whites
Combustible Edison  
1 ounce Campari
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
2 ounces brandy

Shake Campari and lemon juice with
ice. Strain into a cocktail glass. Heat
brandy in a chafing dish. When brandy
is warmed, ignite and pour in flaming
stream into the cocktail glass.  
If the brandy is chilled and shaken
rather than ignited, the drink is simply
known as the Edisonian.
Commodore  
2 ounces bourbon whiskey
3/4 ounce white crème de cacao
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1 dash grenadine

Shake with ice. Strain into champagne
flute.
Cosmopolitan  
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce cranberry juice
1 ounce Cointreau
1/2 ounce lime juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup

Shake with ice. Strain into a cocktail
glass.  
Optional: Before pouring the drink, you
can moisten the rim of the glass with
lime, then coat with sugar. Some
people also add finely grated zest of
orange to the sugar used to coat the
glass with. A dash of Orange Bitters
also works really well with this cocktail.
Daiquiri  
2 ounces light rum
1 ounce lime juice
1 teaspoon sugar

Shake with ice. Strain into a cocktail
glass. Garnish with a slice of lime.
Never, never use Rose's lime juice in
this drink.
Death in the Afternoon  
1 ounce pastis (Pernod, or other
absinthe substitute)
5 ounces chilled champagne

Pour pastis into a champagne flute.
Top with Champagne.
Delilah  
1 1/2 ounces gin
3/4 ounce Cointreau
3/4 ounce lemon juice

Shake with ice. Strain into a cocktail
glass.
Derby  
2 ounces bourbon whiskey
1/4 ounce Benedictine
1 dash Angostura bitters

Stir with ice. Strain into a cocktail
glass. Garnish with a lemon peel.
Diablo  
1 1/2 ounces tequila
3/4 ounce creme de cassis
1/2 ounce lime juice
ginger ale

Shake tequila, cassis, and lime juice
with ice. Strain into a collins glass. Top
with ginger ale. Garnish with a lime
wheel.
Eastern Sour  
2 ounces bourbon whiskey
1 1/2 ounce orange juice
1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
1/4 ounce orgeat syrup (almond syrup)
1/4 ounce simple syrup

Shake with ice. Strain into an ice filled
tumbler. Garnish with spent shell of
lime.
Egg Nog  
6 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup golden rum
1 pint half and half cream
1 pint milk
Nutmeg

In a large bowl, beat eggs until light
and fomy. Add sugar and salt, beating
until thick and lemon colored Stir in
rum, cream, and milk Chill at least
three hours Serve with a sprinkle of
nutmeg.
Fallen Leaves  
3/4 ounce calvados (apple brandy)
3/4 ounce sweet vermouth
1/4 ounce dry vermouth
dash brandy
squeeze lemon peel

Stir with ice. Strain into a cocktail
glass. Squeeze lemon twist into drink,
and use as garnish.
Floridita  
1 1/2 ounces rum
1/2 ounce lime juice
1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
1/8 ounce white crème de cacao
1/8 ounce grenadine

Shake with ice. Strain into a cocktail
glass. Garnish with a lime twist.  
NOTE: Measuring all the ingredients is
important with this drink. Specifically,
be sure not to use too much crème de
cacao, you should just barely taste it.
Fog Cutter  
2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1 ounce orange juice
1/2 ounce orgeat syrup
2 ounce white rum
1 ounce brandy
1/2 ounce gin
1/2 ounce sweet sherry

Shake everything -- except sherry --
with ice. Pour into tall ice filled tiki mug
or chimney glass. Float the sherry over
the top.
